The Histopathologic Observations of Circumcised Redundant Prepuces

Abstract
A histopathologic examination of the 293 circumcised prepuces collected from local urologic clinics during the 13 months from October, 1991 to October, 1992 was performed to evaluate the histopathclogic findings of the redundant prepuces of
Korean
males.
@ES The results were as follows :
@EN 1. The specimens could be divided into 5 groups according to the histopathologic characteristics. The frequencies of the groups were as follows in the decreasing order : unremarkable group(237) cases, 80.9%), superficial perivascular
dermatitis
group(20 cases, 6.8%), lichenoid dermatitis group (19 cases, 6.5%), periadnexal dermatitis group(16 cases, 5.5%), and lichen sclerosus et atrophicus group(1 case, 0.3%).
2. The four inflammatory groups and the unremarkable group showed no significant difference in the frequency between different age groups.
3. The infitrated lymphocytes on the histologic sections showed positive staining to monoclonal anti-T lymphocyte antibody but did not stain to monoclonal anti-B lymphocyte natibody But the staining of lymphoid follicle-like structure in the
section of
lichen sclerosus et atrophicus turned out to be exactly opposite.
With these results, diverse histopathologic patterns were observed in the ciroumcised redundant prepuces and further studies will be necessary to elucidate the relationship between the histopathologic patterns.
